attendance & safety
practices
flyer evaluation
Practices are not optional. Consistent attendance is required to maintain group safety and ensure every athlete receives the necessary training for stunts. If athletes are unable to attend based on GYCL attendance policies, they may be asked to sit out games or expo stunting.
We practice twice a week at North Mianus School. For Fall 2026, practices will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30pm to 6:00pm for all cheer squads, and Tuesdays from 4:30pm to 5:15pm for mascots.
Starting in October, we add Saturday practices for our big Expo.
All athletes are evaluated for flyer positions based on skill level, body mechanics, strength, flexibility, control, coachability, and overall group safety.
Being a flyer is an important role and a serious commitment. It requires consistent training, focus, and the ability to work safely and confidently with a stunt group.
Final flyer placements are made by the coaching staff with the safety and success of the full team in mind. We respectfully ask that athletes and parents trust the coaches’ decisions and understand that flyer roles cannot be requested or guaranteed.
team behavior
volunteering
Disruptive behavior or refusal to cooperate will result in a coach asking an athlete to sit out. Repeated issues may lead to a suspension from the next game.
We can't do this without YOU!
With a program as large as ours, we always need extra hands.
We ask that all parents volunteer at some point in the season, often for just 30-60 minutes.
